The leaves are changing and it is beautiful in the Ozarks, should be borderline spectacular by the weekend.

I have been busy preparing for several upcoming projects so, I have been away from the blog for a few days.

I go to the post office at least a couple of times a week to ship stuff. The post office that I go to has three customer windows. I have never seen all three in operation at the same time. When I got there today there were five customers waiting, when I left there were thirteen. My wait was twenty minutes, two windows the whole time. It has become an ebay nation and people desperately need to ship stuffed animals to South Africa. Somehow we have to make the post office more efficient.

Rollo came by yesterday and we cranked up the drum room for the first time. He and I have been experimenting with various three-microphone techniques for drums. If you are a fan of the Led Zeppelin drum sound that is how it was done, three mics. We got a big sound in a small room so I was happy.

We are starting on the new Bill Dees record this weekend so I am writing chord charts tonight. I have never walked into a session over prepared.

The baseball playoffs started today and my beloved Cardinals beat the San Diego Padres 5-1. Like many cardinal fans I have regarded the team with cautious optimism this year but I would love to see them do well. It occurred to me that a teams fans sometimes reflect characteristics of the teams manager. When Whitey Herzog was managing in St. Louis the fans seemed more enthusiastic, excited and in good humor. During the LaRussa years, everything appears a bit more lawyerly.

Thoughts and prayers to my good friend music man Davey Ray. Dave is one of the writers on “I Let The Whisky Kiss Me” and he has been having some rocky times lately.

About Josh Across America
One week to plan. Three weeks to drive. Could you loop the country in less than a month with only the donations of friends, family and strangers and the kindness of others? That’s what I’m trying to find out.

Josh is Dave’s son and he would get a kick out of folks visiting his site and possibly donating.

All for now, back to the charts.

I don’t watch baseball much, but Richard and I had a rare lazy day and we watched that game. I was so pleased to see the Cardinals win.

I’ll link to Josh’s site as well and hopefully he’ll get a bit more traffic. Sounds fascinatin’.
