I’ve been out of the loop for a couple of days and I was just now catching up on the news. I can’t keep up with all of the madness in the world. North Korea says they are ready for dialogue or confrontation, a kid down the road in Joplin shot up his school with an ak47, a small aircraft just crashed into a building on the upper east side, election cycle scandals, that bastard in Pennsylvania that killed those poor girls, it just goes on and on. The casinos in Nevada announced over a billion dollars taken in during August. A billion dollars pissed away on house odds in one month.
People are looking for an escape.
I can almost understand nihilism on an intellectual level but I can’t go that way. If spirituality is nothing more than a coping mechanism, then that’s enough.
I got home at around four this morning after the Bill Dees sessions. We cut thirteen tracks over two days. It was fun. Bill brought a good batch of songs and working with the Skeletons is a blast. I am not aware of another rhythm section that could tackle Bill’s material with such empathy. It’s going to be a good record.
