According to estimates from the census bureau, the population of the U.S topped 300 million this morning. Oddly enough, my first thought was about all of the places I have been that are sparsely populated.
I remember being in Wheatland, Wyoming when a cocktail waitress came to work at the nightclub and called the police because she saw a dead man lying in the passing lane of I-25. After checking it out the cop called her back to tell her that the guy was merely sleeping off a drunk. A place where traffic is so infrequent, one can nap on the interstate. There are actually a lot of places like that.
Wilco was in town last night and I guess I missed a hell of a show. Several people whose opinions I value raved about it. During one of the encores, a man jumped onstage and grabbed Jeff Tweedy who then punched the guy. That is the kind of thing that makes the national press.
CBGB had their last show and is moving to Vegas. Will this be a punk version of the House of Blues? I was talking to a twenty something friend yesterday who has never heard of the famous club. Ahh, the rock and roll generation gap, never mind the bollocks, here’s the oldies station.
I have been doing a lot of recording lately and have more scheduled. I have been hearing from others that have been doing more studio work so, maybe the great home studio movement is easing some.
Research at Stanford shows that one of every eight Americans is an internet addict. Let’s see that works out to 37.5 million.
