In the end, we really dodged the bullet. Everywhere around here was hit harder than we were. I had a guy cancel an appointment with me today whose power has been out since Saturday.
I was up in Springfield (10 miles north) this afternoon and I have never seen anything like it. As I said before this wasn’t ice that stuck to the roads so, it really hasn’t been a huge driving hazard but, the trees and power lines have been where the damage is.
Springfield is one of those places with a lot of pretty, tree lined streets that are now devastated. I was driving around for about an hour up there and at one point, I was specifically looking for one tree that did not have damage. I couldn’t find one.
That in itself is sad but the people who are still without power, my heart goes out to them. There are a lot of major intersections where the lights are out and hundreds of drivers are waiting politely for their turns, no road rage, human decency in the face of hardship.
I had lunch with Hugh (bass player). I picked him up and his yard was a wreck. It looked almost like a tornado had been through.
We had a hard time finding a restaurant that was open and not way over-crowded. People looked weary.
So, I feel fortunate and am counting my blessings.

I count my blessings too. I am not far from Springfield. I have a truck buried under a tree in my backyard. Luckily though the tree missed my house as you can see in the photos on my blog. I count myself blessed that none of us were killed when the tree fell.
