Lots of news from the geezer rock contingent today.
First, Van Halen will be reuniting with David Lee Roth at least for one tour this summer. Smart move, it should sell some tickets. It does my heart good to see Eddie, who in recent years has battled the bottle, hip surgery and cancer, getting the fire again. Eddie’s fifteen-year-old son Wolfgang will be playing bass.
It might be an interesting night when Van Halen is inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this spring as ousted members Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony promise to show up.
Second, the Police are reuniting for a tour as well. I like this move too. I don’t recall hearing why they broke up in the first place. Who knows what goes on. I like Sting better as a bass player/singer in a band than most of the other stuff he’s done. Andy Summers is very underrated and Stewart Copeland is a monster.
Third, Bon Jovi is going to relelase a country record.
Hmm…. don’t know what to say about that, Corn Jovi?
