Busch Stadium, home of the world champion St. Louis Cardinals baseball club, has banned smoking. They used to have a designated smoking area but no more. They are the fifteenth major league stadium to do so. Even though the stadium is outdoors, I guess the risks from second hand smoke are too great.

Here is an article that tells about an ongoing study that says there is strong evidence that smoking substantially reduces the risk of Parkinson’s Disease. People who never smoked have a 22 percent higher risk than smokers who have quit and, a 73 percent higher risk than current smokers. Heavy smokers have less risk than lighter smokers.

The study also shows similar results for users of smokeless tobacco so, the scientist’s believe that the benefit is in the leaf and not an agent created by lighting it.

So, take heart fellow smokers, it’s working on one level even if they don’t know why. Those of you thinking about heading out to the smoke free ball yard, have fun but do so at your own risk.

Interesting. I wonder if the tobacco leaf could be used in tea. That might remove the danger of the nicotine and chemicals that truly are the killers in ciggies.

As long as you don’t smoke it, the health risks are very low. And though nicotine is addictive, unless you are pregnant or have a serious heart condition, its not that dangerous. Almost all the danger associated with tobacco consumption is related to setting it on fire and inhaling the smoke.

No need to make tea; just don’t burn the stuff.

Itd be a good thing for tobacco growers as well if it truned out you could make medicene of the stuff.
