Have you heard about Live Earth? If you haven’t here’s a little info from the official website.

Live Earth will bring together more than 150 of the world’s top musicians for 24-hours of music from 9 concerts across all 7 continents. Live Earth will bring together an audience of more than 2 billion at the concerts and through television, radio, film, and the Internet. That audience, and the proceeds from the event, will create the foundation for a new, multi-year global effort to combat the climate crisis led by Vice President Al Gore.

Whoopee! Another Rock Stars are here to save the world event. And Al Gore is the ramrod. Some of the artists who will be saving the world by donating their precious time and talent to create a foundation will be, Melissa Etheridge, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lenny Kravitz, Sheryl Crow, John Mayer, Snoop Dogg, Duran Duran, Korn, Pharrell, the Black Eyed Peas, Akon, Bon Jovi, Enrique Iglesias, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw, and the Foo Fighters. And, just for this event, Madonna has even written a special song!

And wait a minute; all 7 continents? There is going to be a rock concert in Antarctica? If you want to save the world, you are going to have to drag some Marshall Amps down to Antarctica. It seems so obvious I don’t know why nobody figured this out before.

Who would you like to see play Antarctica? My vote is for Snoop Dogg. I wonder what the conceal and carry laws are down there because, and I know Snoop knows, that sometimes those penguins can get out of line and you may have to pop a cap in they ass.

This idea just makes sense and rock stars are showing enthusiastic support. Here are some quotes from The Sun.

Roger Daltrey said:”Bo***cks to that! The last thing the planet needs is a rock concert.

“I can’t believe it. Let’s burn even more fuel.

“We have problems with global warming, but the questions and the answers are so huge I don’t know what a rock concert’s ever going to do to help.

Bob Geldof said:”Why is Gore actually organising them? To make us aware of the greenhouse effect?
“Everybody’s known about that problem for years. We are all f***ing conscious of global warming.”

The big event is July 7th(7-7-07, cool), so mark your calendar. This is important people. We must raise awareness on this issue. If we fail to raise awareness, if Al Gore is not able to establish a foundation for a new multi-year, global effort to combat the crisis there can only be grave consequences.

So, thank you rock stars, for understanding, for caring, and for coming to our rescue one more time.

I always think that people organising that sort of thing might have their hearts in the right place, but they’re a little naive if they believe that a concert is going to change the world.
