Busy, busy; It seems like I’m always running out of time but I feel like nothing’s getting done.
I went to see my neurologist, Dr. Hopewell, on Monday. I see him once every three month’s and it’s always a dose of reality. He tells me that normally, an M.S. patient in a similar condition would have an MRI every three months to track the progress of the disease. I haven’t been doing that because it cost a couple grand each time and it had been a little over a year since my last one. Something about the MRI just wears me out; maybe it’s the dye they shoot in my veins, maybe the thought of ever-increasing debt, maybe it’s all in my mind.
I’ve had a couple of gigs pop up for this week. Tomorrow afternoon I’m going to play at a Chamber of Commerce event at a golf course. In my circle, we have long referred to these types of events as “goat cheese” gigs because they are catered wine and cheese affairs. Goat cheese gigs are always low-key; background music. It will be fun though, Mark is going to come with me and we are going to play a lot of the stuff I’ve been recording. We rehearsed some things for this last night, it will be ragged but, hopefully, somewhat right.
Friday and Saturday, I will be playing at a grand opening for a restaurant/bar in Highlandville Missouri. This is another one of these quickly put together bands. Everybody shows up with a list of songs and we decide which one we all know. These are all good singers and players so, it should work out fine. Rehearsal tonight and again tomorrow night after the Chamber gig with a one hour drive each way.
During the day, I’ve been doing work on my new living space; more on that later. All in all, just a busy week; always running, always running behind.
