Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has released his first CD of traditional Venezuelan and Mexican music, entitled Canciones de Siempre or Songs for all times, local media said Tuesday.
The album comprises songs recorded during Chavez’s regular ‘Hello, President’ TV and radio show broadcast on Sundays. The CD cover has Chavez with a microphone in his hands, wearing his traditional red shirt and sombrero.
The leader, known for his long speeches, regularly sings during the program to allow his audience to have some rest before his next monologue.
In order to prevent potential criticism from his political opponents, the president described the CD release as another PR-prank by his press service chief.
Chavez, one of Washington’s most outspoken critics in Latin America, has yet to decide, if the CDs should go on sale or be distributed free.
As if the music business wasn’t tough enough already. Nobody is buying CD’s and then, you got big league acts like Prince and Radiohead releasing C.D.’s for free. And now, Hugo Chavez is entering the game!
It’s bad enough, trying to sell your indie release when you have huge, established stars just giving it away but, going against a first-timer that has his own T.V. show and, oh yeah, his own country!!!
Leave some room for the little guy, folks. What’s next, a billionaire on “Dancing With The Stars”?
Oh well, I hate to do this but, I have to show the photo again.
