“We have to quickly find a way to change the world’s consciousness about exactly what we’re facing.”
Al Gore, after being awarded a share of the Nobel Peace Prize
Way to go, Al!
What is Al Gore doing? I’m sure he must have a master plan.
A master plan, yeah, that usually involves several phases or stages, right? He must have a master plan.
Here’s how I see it. He wrote a book, put together a slide show, hit the road, made a movie, had a big rock show, and started a cable T.V. network. I see all of this stuff as Phase 1 of the master plan. Phase 1 was all about raising “awareness”, raising “consciousness”. Al has used those words a lot during Phase 1. “Consciousness” and “awareness”, those are the key words. Phase 1 has left a big carbon footprint. It takes trees to make books. It takes diesel to run around giving slide shows and promoting a book. It takes all kinds of fossil fuel consumption to make a movie, distribute and promote it. Even if it’s a movie of a slide show. A global rock show, man that’s a big carbon footprint. You have crews with trucks in all of the locations, you got to fly rock stars around, hundreds of thousands of watts required for sound and lights, people driving to the shows, lots of bottled water, hairdressers; on and on. Cable T.V. shows, same thing. All of these activities involve production, distribution and consumption. Wait, wait, that’s an important point.
Production, Distribution and Consumption
That’s the big three. The key’s to Capitalism. I don’t care if you are making cars, beach balls, veggie burritos or designer shoes; anything. You have to produce the product, distribute the product and figure out how to get people to consume the product.
What is Al Gore’s product then. He’s using this traditional process to sell us something. What are you selling us, Al? Consciousness and awareness, that’s what. See Al is a smart guy. His motives are pure, he really cares. He’s not going to all of this trouble to make money. He doesn’t need money. Here is Al’s crib.

He probably uses the money from all of the book sales and movies, cable TV to pay for things like a private jet to go and pick up a Nobel Peace prize. That’s fine because he is raising consciousness.
So, he won the prize. The Nobel people said that it is “for his work in support of the link between humans and global warming”. Aha!! That’s it! He helped establish a link. A link between humans and global warming. That must be what raising awareness and or consciousness means. He established a link and therefore has been successful in raising consciousness.
So, if you are sharp, perceptive, you can tell that now we are in for a treat. We are ready for Phase 2 of the master plan. Once again, take it away Al….
“We have to quickly find a way to change the world’s consciousness about exactly what we’re facing.”
Phase 2 of the master plan somehow will involve “changing of the consciousness” that Al has benevolently raised.
And, what does all this “consciouness raising” have to do with peace?
Does the Nobel Peace prize actually have anything to do with peace?
“to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between the nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses.”
Alfred Nobel’s instructions on who should be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize
It’s not the Nobel Consciousness Prize.
Here’s the thing about this, Alfred Nobel started this because he felt guilty about inventing dynamite. He thought that people were using his invention for destruction of peace. So, the Nobel Peace Prize was conceived of guilt.
So, where does all of this lead? All of this consciouness raising has taken quite a long while. We’re all conscious now. Is the consciousness changing phase going to take as long? You are either conscious or unconscious as I see it. How do you change consciousness? What do you change it to?
Cut the crap Al. What are we going to do?
I don’t care about slide shows and rock shows and Emmy awards and Oscar awards and Nobel prizes.
I see a bunch of movie stars, rock stars and an ex-vice president flying around in private jets, living the high life and leaving big ass carbon footprints.
These same people are telling me to drive a hybrid car, use less toilet paper, and buy carbon offsets. I even saw an article from Australia that said we need to eat more kangaroo meat instead of beef.
So, if we all sit here in the dark, lay off the Charmin, eating kangaroo burgers, and buy a bogus certificate that says somebody, somewhere is going to plant a tree every time we fire up the Prius or turn on the A.C. while you are out jet-setting, promoting rock concerts and picking up mantle pieces, changing consciousness; Is that going to cool the earth?
I don’t care to argue about whether or not there is global warming going on. I’ll concede the point even, if it’s wrong.
I don’t care who is responsible for global warming. I’ll concede the point even, if it’s wrong.
If what you say is true Mr. Gore, if the polar ice caps are going to melt and with that comes disease, pestilence, hurricanes and the better part of the world’s population being displaced by rising water; do you think that the carbon offsets you buy to justify your extravagant lifestyle choices are going to cool the earth and save all of those displaced human beings?
If we do as you say and not as you do, is that going to save all of those displaced human beings?
If the “solutions” you have put forth don’t work to save those human beings. Then you are a hypocrite. If all you have to offer is ‘raising consciousness” and “changing consciousness” then you are not promoting peace or solving a problem. You are serving as nothing more than a global tattle tale who appeals to the easiest of human emotions of which to manipulate; guilt. In that respect, the Nobel Peace Prize, borne of guilt, makes perfect sense.
I like to see the good in people. I’d like to think that Al Gore’s motive is righteous. Like I said, he’s a smart guy. I hope that he’s not all about media manipulation and cross marketing; an ego driven hypocrite. I think that he must have a master plan, The clock is ticking Al, you’ve said so yourself. So, get on with the master plan, man. Get to the part where there are some concrete solutions or, take all the hardware back to Tennessee and leave us to figure it out for ourselves.
