I just took a nice Sunday morning walk to get the lay of the land, as they say.

I’ve had the song “Sunday Morning” by The Velvet Underground running through my head today. So, I figured the best thing to do was listen to it. Looking around the Winnebago, I couldn’t locate the CD so, I did a YouTube search. Lo and behold, I found this groovy clip, a film by Rosalind Stevenson.

I couldn’t find any info on Ms. Stevenson but, the woman that introduces the clip says she went to school with Lou Reed.

Was Lou Reed ever young?

I don’t know who the woman on the intro is either but, she says that the Banana record was “voted in countless polls, the most influential record of the late 20th century”. No word of what was the most influential record of the early 20th century, however.

Anyway, it’s a cool clip, cool song with big reverb.

A few days ago while writing here about the possibility that Elvis was alive, I mentioned that there was a man who claims to have D.N.A. testing to support the idea. That gentleman, Bill Beeny, has operated the “Elvis Is Alive” museum right up the road in Wright City, Missouri since 1990. According to this Breitbart piece, Beeny has sold his collection on Ebay.

A collection of photographs, books and FBI files from The Elvis Is Alive Museum sold for $8,300 on eBay, and the 81-year-old proprietor of the roadside attraction hopes the bidder will carry on his theory that the King never died.

A man from Laurel, Miss., must make a $500 deposit by the end of the weekend or lose his right to claim the stuff, the museum owner’s son said Friday.

The collection includes a tape recording of what is said to be Elvis Presley’s voice made long after the date of his death and piles of documents that are said to be FBI files proving Presley’s involvement with federal authorities.

Bill Beeny, a Baptist minister who founded the quirky museum in 1990, said he sold his memorabilia because he wants to refocus his energy on serving the needy in Warren County and raising money for relief efforts in Darfur.

Carpenters will begin this weekend to reconfigure the museum, a transformed coin-operated laundry 55 miles west of St. Louis.

Other items in the collection include replicas of the Cadillac Elvis drove and the casket and gravestone from his 1977 funeral. A poster of the famous photo of President Nixon and Presley from 1970 is also included.

Good work there Mr. Beeny, nice to see that someone will be carrying the torch.

Meanwhile, there is this Boston.com article about a lawsuit involving some items that were peddled by the infamous “Dr. Nick”.

A legal battle over an odd collection of Elvis Presley memorabilia — including a glass device reportedly used to irrigate the King’s sinuses before the took the stage — could be nearing an end.

The Delaware Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld a ruling granting California businessman Richard Long ownership of the collection of items once owned by Presley’s physician, Dr. George Nichopolous.

The collection includes a black doctor’s bag used by Nichopolous containing prescription bottles bearing Presley’s name, as well as jewelry, guns, and a laryngeal scope used to examine Presley’s throat.

According to the lawsuit, Nichopolous agreed last year to sell it for $1 million to Long and his business partners, Robert Gallagher and Betty Franklin of Nevada. Long put up the money, and Gallagher and Franklin, who claimed to have a “half interest” in the collection, agreed to assign all their rights to a company Long controlled.

Long alleged in his lawsuit that Gallagher and Franklin refused to surrender access to the memorabilia and would not provide the paperwork needed to obtain insurance. A judge entered a default judgment against Gallagher and Franklin in July after they repeatedly failed to appear for court hearings and ignored court orders.

Well, that’s a little convoluted and more than a little disgusting.

So, Bill Beeny’s entire collection of cool stuff that proves Elvis is alive, is worth $8,300 and medical waste from Dr. Nick is worth $1,000,000.

That alone should make you root for the “Elvis is alive” crowd.

Elvis is alive and living in Spokane, WA. He runs a “re-conditioned” classics car lot and is regularly seen going to the theatre on Saturdays. He always buys a large popcorn, nachos and a Diet Dr. Pepper.
