Remember Taser Guy? “Don’t tase me bro!” Yeah, you remember that guy.

Trivia question: Who was the speaker at the function when the infamous Taser Guy made his entrance into the collective consciousness of the great unwashed?

You remember The Clash don’t you? Angry young men, rebels with causes, thinking man’s punk band? Yeah, you remember those heady, sweaty days.

Every cheap hood strikes a bargain with the world
And ends up making payments on a sofa or a girl
Love n hate tattooed across the knuckles of his hands
The hands that slap his kids around cause they dont understand

How death or glory becomes just another story
How death or glory becomes just another story
“N” every gimmick hungry yob digging gold from rock n roll
Grabs the mike to tell us hell die before hes sold
But I believe in this-and its been tested by research
That he who fucks nun will later join the church

“Death Or Glory” (Strummer/Jones)

Now, former member of The Clash, Mick Jones has further immortalized Taser Guy.
From Rueters.

One of last year’s most infamous Internet sensations, the “Don’t tase me, bro!” arrest of an excitable college student, is getting a new lease of life from former Clash rocker Mick Jones.

“It’s gonna go like this, dun-dun-dun … Aaaargh!” Jones said backstage at the inaugural NME Awards in Los Angeles, after he received a special honor for his inspirational work and then played two songs with Carbon/Silicon.

Carbon/Silicon is Mick’s new band.

Jones, along with millions of people around the world, was entranced by footage showing the subjugation of University of Florida student Andrew Meyer during an appearance by U.S. Sen. John Kerry last September…

“It was disgusting,” Jones said of the police reaction.

The long arm of the law and civil disobedience inspired such Clash tunes as “Police & Thieves” and “White Riot.” But in Meyer’s case, the band’s cover of “I Fought the Law” might be more appropriate.

I thought Taser Guy was pretty damn silly myself. Yeah the cops overreacted but, c’mon-”civil disobedience”!!?? To me, Taser Guy was just another cheap hood trying to strike a bargain with the world. Just one more gimmick hungry yob.

Extra credix trivia: What artist/band/songwriter wrote a song that mentioned the infamous Soy Bomb Guy?

You gotta love tasers. Back when they were first invented they gave some to the security of my old school, which was part boarding school.

Naturally, some of the kids used to sneak out of dorms in the middle of the night to go to a local bar. One night the security guard found a bunch of them trying to sneak back in and managed to get one with his taser before the rest scattered.

Needless to say, parents were not happy, tasers were confiscated and Mr Security Guard did not cash another paycheck!

    Ah, the good old days.
