Do you want to play the big stage? Are you practicing your scales and learning your theory, writing songs, developing your “look”?

Forget all about that macho shit
And learn how to play guitar hero…

From gamezine.

The Give It A Name festival hosted a record-breaking Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock performance last night, when two players played Guns ‘n Roses’ Welcome to the Jungle in front of 9,600 fans.

9,600 people watching two kids play a video game; that’s sad and hilarious at the same time.

What’s even more sad and hilarious is this reaction from the company man acting like it was the Beatles on the Sullivan show.

The duo performed the Guns ‘n Roses track in co-op mode on Expert difficulty, much to the delight of senior brand manager for Guitar Hero, Ian McClellan.

“Seeing two Guitar Hero players, rocking the 9,600 plus people in Earls Court, was a genuine jaw-on-the-floor moment, illustrating how far we’ve come as a franchise,” beamed Mr McClellan.

“A few years ago, games were mainly played in bedrooms. Now we’re on the main stage of a massive indoor festival only an hour or so before Jared Leto’s band headlines. It’s incredible.”

Incredible indeed.

  1. This is kind of stupid, really! I ask myself how long will this go on. I guess somebody should tell them how fun is to really play the guitar!

I have a young ‘un at home who keeps up with the gaming universe. In hopes of not being a divisive parent, I read the mag “gaming” and occasionally watch “G4…” etc. This is the unheard word I hear — as a parent — “game industry fails to deliver.”

Empathetically, I think of the poor schmucks who are given the ignoble task to develop an “idea,” and develop this with no funds! Tell me you haven’t been given such tasks, I’ve been there…

“Keptin, I’m givin’ ya’ all I’ve got, she’s going to Blow!!”

Anyone else have an opinion on gaming manufacturing, that could curtail the waste we are all experiencing?

I visualize Marketing meeting at SONY Games: “Hey, it’s great, just put a bezel on it, and give a call to that sellout rockstar… what’s’isname, methane death pistol, and list $399.99.”

I hear Pribek say sometimes he finds a product someone makes in one’s garage after hearing it can’t be done by big manufacturers’.. [correct me if I'm misquoting ya Pribe's.]

My young’un, thanks to you guys, has caught on to the joy of the six string, and plays orchestra violin in Mid-school.. he got a first place medal btw, too. Attaboys, everyone reach around and pat yourself on the back for keeping hope alive..

The funny thing is that some think that they are really playing guitar. A more apt name would be “Guitar Hero Legends of Rock III: Simulating Years of Hard Work, Practice and Lessons with 5 Colorful Plastic Buttons.

I think Microsoft should come out with “Flight Simulator Hero”…imagine the possibilities!
