Gigwise is reporting that John Lydon would like a shot at working with Britney Spears.
Sex Pistols star John Lydon has expressed a desire to work with Britney Spears – claiming he can help the singer overcome her personal problems.
“I haven’t written a song for Britney yet but I would love to,” Lydon told the Sun newspaper.
“I’d like to help out because there’s a girl who needs some help,” he added.
Lydon said that he believed Spears had been “hurt” over recent years and that “hurt is the root core essence of good music.”
Is John just yanking our chain?
Is John being sincere?
You know what, it doesn’t matter. If they were to collaborate, it would be spectacle but, it could also be a great record. You may think I’m joking but, I’m not. Lydon has a good point when he says, “hurt is the root core essence of good music.”
Britney, have your people call his people.

Cynical Kenski: Johnny’s looking through the papers, sees that Britters is getting major publicity and figures that he can pop up and steal some of it.
Less cynical Kenski: Johnny’s been following the Britters meltdown and figures that here, at last, is someone who’ll, erm, [insert tasteful euphamism better than 'grease his pole']
Least cynical Kenski: Johnny’s finally flipped. We all knew it was coming…

I thought that Johnny was happily married.
John Lydon is known for his prickly interactions with the press. I don’t see him doing anything like this just because it gets him in the media. He’s had many chances to whore himself out for attention, and he just doesn’t. So I don’t see this as that.
Thing is, Lydon’s role in music has been to be provocative, while Britney’s has been to be “provocative”. But who in 1968 would’ve thought that Marianne Faithfull had Broken English in her?

Wow…Britney as the new Marianne Faithfull, didn’t think of that.
I’m going to put this out there; Britney has the capability of making a good record. When I say that, I’m not really talking about a full length album, a single.
Ask yourself this question-If there was no video attached, no visual hype attached and you were just driving down the road and heard “Hit Me Baby One More Time” and you didn’t have any idea who she was, would it catch your ear? If you can imagine getting rid of all preconception, would it pass the “can a blind guy dig it” test?
Lydon, has the capability of writing a song that gets to the core of the matter. His device is loud minimalism which, would leave a lot of room for somebody like Britney to interpret. Lydon is also the Lord of the Bullshit Detectors and that gives the thing instant, across the board appearance of cred. The hype would happen of it’s own accord and the thing would be huge.
