Friday Night Cage Match/Fondue Party/Evolving Conversation/Dancing About Architecture Vol.11

It’s that time again, time to put away the worries of the day, time to let it all hang out, a time to laugh, a time to cry, a time to celebrate, a time to act, a time for disobedience, a time for choosing, a time for change, a time for a little thing we like to call Friday Night Cage Match/Fondue Party/Evolving Conversation/Dancing About Architecture.

This week’s episode features two contestants, that despite having some tread wear, are considered by many to be on the cutting edge. At a time when giant companies are running like rats off of a sinking ship, these two are embracing the recording game and thriving.

Tonight we have:

Radiohead or Coldplay?

    “I am a scientist” vs “I’m a creep”

That’s just about the end of my witty comparisons. I could go into back catalogs and equiptment choices and such. The only thing I can really get into is that Gwyneth Paltrow is married to Chris Martin of Coldplay, and Ben Affleck told Kevin Smith that … well, you know how the men don’t know but the little girls understand? She doesn’t, not really.

“You know how I know you’re gay? You like Coldplay.”

Coldplay is like Roger-era Pink Floyd without the core themes. Radiohead is like Roger-era Pink Floyd with a big dollop of post-Goo Sonic Youth.

    So, Roger Waters.

I have no idea what you just said there, Mr. Sans…

Okay, that does it: …I’ve been working way too hard keeping up with all the cryptic shop talk between ya bunch of knuckle benders.
So, this week I will tally up the first ten FNCM/FP/EC/DAA ‘s to see where we stand in the primaries… Okay bunk mates?

I’ll get back to ya’ later!!

Syd-era Floyd is like Radiohead and Coldplay without Prozac…or cryptic shop talk.

That’s true. There’s cryptic talk in Syd, but it certainly isn’t shop talk.

Yeah Syd wasn’t known for shop talk but, one has to wonder how Prozac would have been as an alternative to the cupboard.

Radiohead, is currently cheesed that Prince issued a take down notice to YouTube for his version of “Creep” from Coachella Festivoola. Radiohead seems to think that it’s their song, they wrote it so, they should be the only ones who have the power to issue a take down.

I’m thinking that a performance is also copyrighted, not just the song so, Prince should have the right to keep YouTuber’s from looking.

I have purchased Coldplay (Rush of Blood to the Head) but, have not put down money for Radiohead. I have been hearing tracks from “In Rainbows” and it all sounds solid and clever. I have not yet heard any of the new Coldplay except for that animated TV ad (iPod?) so, I need to listen to that.

Preliminary report is that throughout your 20 or so individuals in cage match-ups so far are all similar in one area: they are all searching for Oz… but seem unwilling to go to Munchkin Land for spruce-ups, rehearsals and production role playing, and a “big dollop of post-Goo Sonic Youth,” before the big intro to Wiz@Oz. [ibid. sic: Syd]

    Will get back to you…

    Labs are closed on Sundays.

    Jay-Z on Coldplay…

“an uncompromising artist with an incredible knowledge of music and melody,” he said. “He’s next in line for the biggest band in the world, period.”

Chris Martin of Coldplay on karaoke…

He said: “I’ve been into them and you open the lyrics book and there are a million Beatles songs.

“There’s dozens of ABBA, Culture Club or even Bucks Fizz, but Coldplay? There will be two or at best three. If we could just get eight in every bar worldwide I’d be happy. I would know we’ve made it.”

And Martin believes the bands new album could help them break the karaoke scene.

He told the Sun: “I think there are three karaoke possibilities on Viva La Vida. It surely has to be the ultimate measure of success.”
