Chris Harris at MTV Newsroom has a list of the Top Ten Most Illegible Metal Logos.
I’ll quote Chris here…
When it comes to heavy metal — specifically grindcore, black metal and death metal — the rule of thumb is generally the more illegible, the better. In a sense, these logos, which often include at least one inverted cross or a pentagram, are actually anti-logos. Still, fans snatch up T-shirts like nobody’s business so they can proudly display these indecipherable logos across their chests.
Anti-logos, I like that. Anyway, I thought I would show the top two and, if you need to see the rest head over to Chris.
Prosanctus Inferi
So, Chris had a little info on his page but, I decided I wanted to do a little research about the band myself. It appears that the logos aren’t the only cloudy issues in this realm. I did find the Prosanctus Inferi MySpace page and, there wasn’t a lot of hard information there. I did find this though, about a recent gig.
NEWS: THE FIRST PROSANCTUS INFERI SHOW WAS A CONVULSIVE LURCH OF SACRED FUMIGATION. EXPECT MORE SECRETIONS OF BLACK AUDIAL FILTH WREAKED UPON THE HOLY PULLETS IN THE COMING MONTHS.
Wish I would have known about that gig sooner.

Xasthur
Xasthur is a one man band, I think; From the Xasthur site.
New Xasthur line-up: M.H. - Clean and Unclean Vocals and Ambient Interludes Malefic - Guitars, Bass, Synthesizer/Keyboard, Acoustic and programmed drums, Cello, Vocals (clean and unclean), Music, Lyrics etc. M.H. is known for his experimentation with Nostalgia. At this time, it’s on a session member basis but that may become something more permanent in the future. We shall see…
Yes we shall. Although, the Xasthur site has more information than the Prosanctus Inferi one it seems as though they/he/she/it aren’t to happy about that. Under the heading, To clear some things up (December ‘07) is this.
1. Malefic has not rejoined Twilight and has never made a visit to a “rehab” either, according to a false update on that band. If you need to know what’s happening with Twilight then I suggest you find a way to ask the members personally.
2. Xasthur has never been affiliated with ‘My-space’ and there won’t be any official band pages or profiles there either.
I have never chosen to promote this band and there isn’t any need to, especially in ways such as this.
I am not your friend and the truth is, I prefer not to interact with people, even if that’s so fucking hard to believe in this day and age… that is not my roll or purpose.3. If there is anything you need to know, this website is more than enough for that.
4. James (the webmaster) won’t be forwarding any emails or inquiries anymore. I’m sure he, as well as all of us, have better things to do with our time.
I like these guys’ style of promotion you know, it’s the old “leave ‘em wanting more” kind of thing.
