Has anybody heard any of the “leaked” tracks yet?
If so, I’d like to hear your thoughts.
I read reports that say it is the most downloaded stuff of the year at P2Ps. I don’t know how anybody can come to a conclusion like that. It’s sort of like when you see statistics for cocaine sales. As if coke dealers are reporting their quarterlies to some central location.
I have heard some of it and, I was impressed. But, rather than just do a revue, I’d like to hear some opinions.

I have heard a few “leaks” on YT and I have a few personal ideas about them. First I think we should not compare the new GNR with the old GNR and expect the same kind of music. It’s more like a solo album of Axl, if we think about it.
So, seems to me that what he plays now is more “exact” from the point of view of music execution, with GNR I have always had this problem with them being way to “relaxed” on their playing. However, what they lack now is sweetness and feeling. They seem to struggle to get it right but forget music is about feelings.
The voice of Axl seems interesting, I think I like it better here. He is a bit more careful to his singing, which I like. If only he could sing the same in live shows.
And I have the impression they lack creativity. These are not beautiful songs but rock productions. Something’s missing. My opinion.

I get what you are saying about it being a solo album as well.
Axl seems to be using his voice more like an instrument. And, there seems to be richer quality to it. He’s doing some phrasing that is unique and things keep catching my ear. Right off the bat I wondered; “Can he pull that off live?”
I’m interested it enough that I want to give it a real listen through the Tannoy’s it when it is officially released.

I think that Slash, Izzy and Duff are the heart of what I associate with GnR, and without them, there’s no reason to continue the band.
