This is a nice article by Rick Runion at The Ledger about 82-year-old guitarist Ed Vitale.
Vitale served in WWII, used his GI Bill to study at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Modern Music and went on to play with Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker and Miles Davis.
Born in Lodi, N.J., in 1925, Vitale credits his music-loving parents with inspiring his affection for music. At age 82, he plays several times a week, still practicing his scales and arpeggios.
“I keep my fingers as loose as I can,”
Runion’s piece has a video that features some of Ed’s fine playing.

The Epiphone Broadway that Ed is holding there, is the one he bought at the factory in 1949 and remains his go-to guitar today.
“I play the notes, and God makes the music.”

He’s in Lakeland, FL? That’s not too far away. I’ll keep on the lookout for him (and keep my ear to the ground)…
