There’s a site that I get a real kick out of called Ads Of The World. It’s a place where agencies or creators submit examples of ads and people leave comments about them. A lot of the comments seem to come from other creative ad guys so, they are often critiquing the work.
It’s interesting because, you can get an idea of what these folks are thinking but, it’s also a real glimpse into other cultures.
For example, take a look at this Master Lock ad from South Africa that boasts the slogan “Tough Enough For Any Job”.

Hippie skeletons locked and chained to a tree (It’s hard to see the details, I know. To see the original size and incredible detail of this, click here.) You just wouldn’t see this over here. I’m sure it would offend somebody.
This ad , featuring a plum eerie Baby Ronald McDonald, is from India.

Baby Ronald is announcing the opening of a new McDonald’s franchise; “Just opened, near Kimaya Kothrud. I’m lovin’ it.”

Wow, I thought that was a joke, like something somebody would put in the back window of their pickup truck. Evidently, it’s not only legit, it’s high fashion.
