Last night, another mysterious blog showed up in my recommendations from the old Google Reader, Voodoo Funk. I mean you got to check that out, right? Frank, the author of Voodoo Funk says…
“This is my account of 3 years of record digging in West Africa.”
Sure enough, the Reader was right again. As soon as I opened up Voodoo Funk I was treated to this wonderfully, funky song I’ve never heard before. Now, I don’t know anything about this song, other than it’s title, “Call Me Frank” and that it’s by De Frank & His Professionals.
And, it has one of the best opening lines I’ve ever heard.
“Call me frank, I whisper to you,
Because my life is crazy and I look so funny”
The video was shot by the author while cruising around Cotonou, Benin.
Great song, great record.
As always….before playing the YouTube, hit pause on the music player to your left.

C’mon, J you got to know that they meant to do that. They’re “Professionals”. Says so, right there in the name.

Hee Hee! I had a guy say this to me once; “You were so out of tune on that one, the fiddle players noticed.”
