That’s right folks, you heard right! Thirst N’ Howl will be at the Outback Pub this weekend!
Yeah!!
The Outback Pub

Alright, here’s the deal. I’m gonna be honest with you. I’ve been putting these cheesy gig announcements for, I don’t know, 8-10 months something like that. I think it’s kind of silly because, who goes to a musician’s web page and says, “Oh, so and so is at the Bucket of Blood on Friday. Honey, why don’t we call the Davenports and just have a wing ding?” Nobody does that, I know that. But, all of my many musician friends were coming to me and getting on my ass because I wasn’t announcing the gigs. “You got to put your gigs up there, you idiot!” You Moron! You MAROON!
So, I figure, what the hell, can’t hurt. But, I would have thought, that in all this time, somebody, anybody would, at some point, walk up to me while I was on break and say, “I saw that you guys were going to be playing here on your little blog, I thought that thing about that guy eating the cat was sort of funny”. But, no. Not once. I gotttttt….nothing.
But, I still keep doing these goofy announcements, “Hey, come on out, it’ll be fun! Great food! Big dance floor! Bring the kids!
Now, I realize that most of you are from outside of the area and, you aren’t going to plan a vacation in the Ozarks around a Thirst N’ Howl gig….well hold on, just a second. You know what? You ought to.
I took those shots from the neighboring dock this morning a little before 7:00. I went for an early walk because it was pushing 80 degrees at 4:30! Oh yeah, this isn’t Branson either. It’s across the lake from Branson. Branson is…touristy but, it’s not far. A lot of folks stay over on this side and go in to Branson to see a show or, whatever else they do over there, I don’t know like go to the Outback Pub for instance. Anyway, off the track, I know but, there’s always room for some area promotion and superfluous photos taken during one of my walks.
Anyway, as I was saying…Now, I realize that most of you are from outside of the area and, you aren’t going to plan a vacation in the Ozarks around a Thirst N’ Howl gig but, I know for a fact that there are quite a few readers that are within easy driving distance of these gigs. I know you’re out there Nixa, Ozark, Springfield, Highlandville, Blue Eye, Forsythe, Reeds Spring, Galena, Cape Fair, Aurora, Rogersville. I know you’re out there and, like I say, these gig announcements are an inefficient way to get the word around but, my guess is that some of you have shown up and didn’t say anything about reading about it here.
I figure that what’s going on here is, you don’t want to say anything about it in front of your friends while you are trying to look cool at the nightclub. I know that if you were to walk up to me and, in front of your peeps say something like, “Oh, I just have to tell you, I’m a big fan of your blog, I read it every day. That’s why I talked all of my friends in to coming out to see the fabulous Thirst N’ Howl band because, I read about it on your blog“. That’s pretty dorky.
So, here’s what I have in mind; We have some pretty talented and creative people around here. Hell, they even started writing a three act rock opera in the comments sections. So, I figure we ought to come up with like a secret handshake or, some kind of signal. Something that will allow you, to let me know that you heard about one of these rooty-poot little gigs from reading my blog, that will also allow you to still appear urbane in front of your pals.
How ’bout it.

I’d come Jack, but I live in London mate. So it’s never gonna happen. However, if there ever comes a time that I am in your neck of teh woods I will come and look you up. It would be fun. And I ain’t a dork - I know how to party!

Each one should get them self a “Bring your own mug to the Gig” Mug purchasable for only $25.95 at Pribek’s Zazzle Store.
Then just mosey up to the stage with mug in hand and say: “You guys know any Seals and Crofts?” Jack will probably refund you his commission of $1.19, and autograph your mug as well.
There are other Logos available too.

Off the Hook Axe ?? hehe
Sorry, I was poking fun at “bands’ request reluctance syndrome” that has been slavishly chronicled in the previous discussions.
MUNK !!!! More MUNK.
Did I mention MUNK, or at least Cannonball… oh hell its all whimsy. We’re just too far away…

Well, since finding your blog I’ve not been back to the Ozarks (at least I don’t think so… when did I find it… we were in Nixa/Springfield over Xmas then just after New Year).
There’s definitely some cosmic connection here. You’re based in the Ozarks where the bulk of my in-laws live, so I’ve been there many times… and your blog referenced a french fry selling bistro which is just down the road from me. Spooky.
While I try to stay away from Branson for no better reason than my perceptual prejudices based on the advertisements on the approach roads, I’d definitely head over there to see you (guys) play if the planets align next time we’re over. Won’t be a for a while, though (funerals and shotgun weddings notwithstanding) as we just had my mother-in-law and niece over, which seemed like a cheaper alternative… what were we thinking?!?

Well, Jack, I am luckier than you from this point of view, 2 of my band mates read my blog on regular basis, they comment on it at our rehearsals, they tell me one or another about what I write on my blog!
By the way, I would have loved to see you on stage. Don’t you have some YouTube videos or something?

No YouTubes yet, to my knowledge, Ovidiu. I’ve got a buddy, that is also a musician, that is a very good videographer. He has expressed interest in doing something but, it’s been a good year or so since I’ve talked to him. I’ve been thinking about giving him a call because, I do have an idea in mind. We’ll see.
Kenski-I know what you are saying about Branson. The only times I go over there are to play gigs. Keep me updated on the shotgun wedding schedule.

I think that may be my blog’s biggest problem; the approach road signs!!
You guys are all so lucky to have readers!! My brother gives me a mercenary read once a week or so… at least by Wednesday. He always calls on Thursday, so he makes sure to throw out some of the buzzwords in my latest.
Hey Jack here is a videographer group I’m sending over to pitch you guys… Bidda Ness
I hope they work cheap!!
