I finally got to sit down and watch some Olympic coverage and the first thing I saw was synchronized diving.

There’s your winners, Wang Xin and Chen Ruolin of China. From Gulf News.

It was a full house at the Water Cube, with partisan fans waving red flags.

Chen and Wang led through all five rounds, earning a perfect 10 for execution from one judge on their second dive.

I found it to be oddly compelling.

I don’t know that I can ever go back to watching just one person diving. Seems passe, old hat. Really, I’m wondering when they will start doing three person synchronized diving.

    I don’t watch sports.

But I’m thinking about metal shows, where like the two guitars in Judas Priest headbang and move their guitar necks back and forth in unison. Always makes things cooler.

You really should watch sports Sans, Sports can provide tremendous insight to society and help to develop valuable life skills. If you find it difficult to get interested in sporting events, I would suggest you try gambling. Nothing can perk up an otherwise dull game more than having some hard earned cash riding on the outcome. Most major casinos offer a “sports book” that has an enticing menu of betting options on a wide variety of all manner of sporting events. Or, with a little research, you can usually find a local “bookie” who will offer some “action” on most any event you choose. I find that the illegality offers a little more excitement to the process.

Those are “Tweeners” in Beijing-o, and now they are “Twinners…” you gotta keep up with jingo Gramps. Odds of their winning at platform time was two to two… win. Voluntarily, they have been implanted with GPS magneto-trons, to help them navigate in synchronous orbit… as you have shown here. All bets were a push.

The only difference as one can see in the photo is that the one is looking at the overhead Jumbotron… and saying — hmmmmm

I think I will let others fill in just what is she saying? “__________( | )_________”

Mr. Sans, it would be very sportive if “Metal Gods” Judas Priest guitarists KK and Tipton [are they still alive?] with full mock mullets jumped from the thirty foot platform playing their instruments, did a triple back flip, half gainer, nautilus foot thrust while head banging into the “Water Cube” with two, no, three giant white sharks circling. This would bring out the betting man in us all I think. Good suggestion you have there, but that’s me.

Oh, wait; I get it now. Pribek is saying “Gambling is the Sport…” now there’s a new one. Sitting on one’s arse, counting cards and going “all in,” with hedging and a little trickery. Then celebrating like a kid the day after his prom night. I’m full in with you guys; where’s my grand slam breakfast?

Thanks both of you’se’s for the imagery, pd aka mpw

Here’s my take. You train for months and years to be the best you possibly can be. You dive into the pool alongside your fellow athlete over and over, until your skin is prune-like and your hearing is constantly dull from the pressure changes.

On the day of your olympic trial you’re up there on the high board, shoulder to shoulder with your compatriot. Now, given that this is the culmination of all those years of gruelling training and egg sandwiches… aren’t you going to be tempted to try and dive a liiiittle bit better than your team-mate?

You know you are… You want them to say “Yin’s dive was good, but Yang’s… Yang’s was GREAT!”
