Big Cork Guitar Mural

From Pakistan’s Daily Times.

Tirana:Albanian painter Saimir Strati, 42, works on ‘The Guitarist’ mosaic, using cork at the Sheraton Hotel.

Hey, it’s not often you see a big, cork guitar mural. And, this one’s going to be really big.

Strati will use around 300,000 corks on a banner measuring 96 square metres in an effort to secure for the third time a place in the Guinness Book of World Records, with the largest, three-dimensional cork mosaic ever attempted.

There you go, it’s a run at the old Guinness Book, the arbiter of worthwhile large art in modern times. And, artist Strati is no stranger to large art world records.

In the last two years Strati has been recognised by Guinness World Record officials as having created the world’s largest nail mosaic with 500,000 industrial nails on a eight metre square wooden board and the largest, three-dimensional toothpick mosaic using 1,000,000 toothpicks.

Good work Saimir Strati. You are on a roll and we can’t wait to see what your next record breaking project will be. Personally I’d like to see a giant marshmallow sculpture.
