I just found an interesting amp manufacturer, Electrosonic.

Take a gander at this little jewel the Thermosonic.

These guys are building amps that make a visual statement but, they have practical and some innovative features.

The Thermosonic
Features:
* 6SL7 preamp; smooth, deep, fat and warm. Big octal preamp for a big sound.
* 7591 output; legendary for its attributes. Sensitivity of British tubes, fat warmth of American tubes. 10 Watts
* EZ81 rectifier; classic tube rectifier.
* Single-Ended, Class A
* Self-Bias, No bias adjustment necessary for tube changes
* Special Tone control that boosts and cuts mids
* 10″ Aerosonic Speaker; Super sensitive ceramic/neodynamium speaker optimized for low wattage applications. Vintage tone and modern thump.
* Projection spacer; special baffle to increase projection and body
* Tube and circuit-chassis windows to allow view of the craftsmanship and mysterious circuits
* Electrolight System; special LED-based system to back-illuminate tubes and internally light the chassis
* Red Durabak Coating; ultra-tough, seamless coating. Space-age and environmentally friendly. Made from recycled tires.

Coating made from recycled tires, good idea. The Thermosonic goes for $650.00. They have sound files for many of the amps at the site as well.

This is another manufacturer that is embracing the idea of custom builds. They have a feature on the site they call the “Amp Configurator” that allows you to plug in a wide variety of options that include pretty much any tube configuration for all of the models. All very reasonably priced.

Beyond that, they will build you a totally custom amp.

Go take a look, the designs are cool, some are a little more conventional, and they sound good.

And, don’t forget to grab a free download of “Market Street” (both guitar tracks played through a vintage Fender Deluxe Reverb, btw) simply by clicking where it says “Download” in tiny little letters next to the tiny little picture of me in the RverbNation music player located in the side bar.

And go ahead, take the leap and sign up for the mailing list while you’re at it.
