Mindless Yobs In The News Vo. 13 (Local Edition)

A couple of local news items for today. First from the News Leader, we have a mysterious tale of a naked man standoff.

The 21-year-old was inside the house when police arrived, the release said, but jumped out a window and fled from officers.

Attempts to Taser the naked man were unsuccessful, the release said, and the man was able to barricade himself in his own home next door.

Christian County sheriff’s deputies helped Nixa police surround the home while the tactical team was summoned. Officers and family members then tried for several hours to get the man to surrender, the release said.

The man reportedly had access to weapons in the home, so the tactical team used non-lethal gas in an attempt to flush him out.

The man remained barricaded in the house, however. Officers eventually located him hiding in the attic and pulled him out, the release said.

“The suspect continued to resist the officers, but he was taken into custody without further incident,” the release said.

Next, again from the News Leader, a story about a guy who hired a hooker then, asked for a refund and that’s when the trouble started.

Dissatisfied with the services of a local prostitute, police say, Springfield resident Anthony E. Mello decided Sunday he wanted some of his money back.

He got pushy, the prostitute would later say, so she called her husband, who was waiting outside.

Wanted some of his money back not all of it. Her husband was waiting outside!!??

Things started civilly enough, with Mello paying the woman $200 upfront “for one hour of companionship,” the statement says.

But after allegedly having sex with the woman, Mello became upset when she wouldn’t fulfill a request, police say.

“(The woman) said Mello became physical with her by pushing her around and demanded his money back,” the statement says. “(She) called her husband … who was waiting for her downstairs.”

The husband entered the apartment and said he and his wife were leaving, but Mello blocked the exit. The man tried to push by him, and Mello allegedly threw him on the floor and punched him in the head “at least six times.”

The prostitute told police a man who was with Mello tried to pull him off. He was apparently unsuccessful, because police say Mello commenced to dragging the husband down a flight of stairs by his ankles.

“(The woman) said she saw (her husband’s) head hit each step on the way down,” the probable cause document says. “(She) said she attempted to call 911 from her cell phone at that time, but Mello took her phone from her and threw it.”

Saw his head hit each step on they way down the stairs. I’m pretty sure I saw that in a Tom and Jerry cartoon.

Who says nothing exciting ever happens in Springfield?

  1. Pardon my misdirection, as usual; in the second story, who of the players in the drama is the yob?

    1. The Prudent Prostitute
    2. The remorseful patron Anthony E. Mello
    3. The Chivalrous Husband
    4. Mello’s empathizing friend
    5. The Cell Phone and its faulty Service Network
    or –
    6. The Police making the reports

Sidebar: In my retail experiences…. *double checking*…. yes, just as I thought — in all my wholesale/retail experiences, this is best example of Buyer’s Remorse that I have heard about.

  2. Pribek says:

Well now, looking at your list it becomes apparent, that one’s just chock full of yobs isn’t it? Thanks for clarifying. I may be off my game but, it was difficult for me come up with embellishment that was more ridiculous than the reported facts.

  3. You’re not off your game there oh haptic yobologist, sometimes they just write themselves into history, as is. But in my pick I am going with the cuckold husband as the yob amidst all these extraordinaries… no?

  4. Pribek says:

Well, he certainly seems to have the worst end of the deal. However, I would keep my eye the protagonist, Mr. Mello as he seems to be a prime candidate for yob recidivism.

  5. Hmmmm…. All she had to do would have been to say “Yes…” ..no?

Makes me wonder: Are ‘yobs’ victims? if true, then relapses are impinged? I agree, protagonist Mr. Mello’s relapse is imminent, hanging threateningly over his head.

Probably what he has done to others will be done to him…. while incarcerated, eh, maybe right now as we speak.

What modern journalism leaves out most always is a retreat into the contractual “agreement.” What ever portion of the $200 dollar deal was meant for the “little extra” meant a great deal more to Mr. Mello, than it meant to the prostitute. He thought half back would have been a good refund. She did not, but the facts are missing what she thought would have been a suitable refund.

My point is this little dickering about the money raises these two’s statures. They may be a rung or two above yob and therefore usually prey on yobs… there the conflict is rooted… no?

The whole story still gives me a little shiver up and down me spine… arggh.

  6. Pribek says:

Well, one detail that I left out, that is in the report is that the terms were negotiated up front through an escort service.
There are some obvious holes in the story which, make it difficult to determine top yob in this pack.
    A few observations/unanswered questions…
The escort service is the pimp in this situation, in that case there is no reason for the hooker’s husband to be present. Unless, the hooker had run in to trouble with clients booked by the escort service before. If so, she should find a new pimp and possibly increases her yob stature. At the same time, escort service as pimp qualifies for yob status in that they did not take responsibility for a hazardous condition.

The X factor in this whole deal may be the “friend” of Mello’s who was present. Was he part of the initial negotiation? Why was he there? Was his possible participation, lack thereof, part of the disagreement?

  7. I would concede this final entry of yours, sir; however you have introduced the X factor. And in final re-read of the report Mr Mello is really the yob, top dog yob, Captain Binghampton of the yob outpost, as he was brought to the police by his parents in the end.

The X factor Dispatch Company: “Platinum Selects Escort Service,” brought to mind a recent event that you might have missed since you do not watch TV from the mobile Gypsy caravan choocanow…

In the Colbert Report last night was the story of one blogger who as guest on the show described yobbish yobbo treatments, what we curmudgeons have all been harping all along:

Last night on The Colbert Report, he had on a shocker of a guest. The man who is credited by Palin for getting her the VP nod. [ http://palinforvp.blogspot.com/ ] This blog was started in the summer of 2007.

Yes it is a funny thing that happened on the way to the RNC Convention.

    Republicans:

I keep saying that it’s really sickening that The Daily Show and The Colbert Report end up providing more news than the 24 cable news shows do. I try to catch both of these shows before going to sleep so that I can have a few laughs but over the last couple of years, both have done better jobs of covering what we really should know about better than all the big news media. (namguardianangel)

    Democrats:

Last night, around 9:00, I drove into town to get some food. I turned on the talk radio station and there was a woman speaking about the â??politics of divisivenessâ?? or something like that. It dawned on me that I had missed the State of the Union Address and that, what I was listening to was the rebuttal. Now, I just caught the tail end of it. The announcer came on and said that, lo and behold, the speaker was Kathleen Sibelius. He referred to her as an â??up and comerâ?? in the Democratic Party and a possible Vice Presidential candidate… (Pribek.net)

Since I am just meandering on this new development, I have no summary to make. So, I only conclude the veep for the Dems could have been Kathleen… And — had we all half-dozen or so jumped in back in January with a clamor and a shake… and a blogger hummmm: we could have had Dueling Governor female VEEP’s — one from the corn state, one from the oil state..

Blogs that are telling it like it is, is the mark of YOBS? Not anymore.

  8. Pribek says:

The thing about the guys parents; yeah, that’s pretty much the yob nail in the yob coffin.

    blogs is yo futum

  9. J says:

was that a real yob or was that a Sear’s yob?
