“Everything takes longer around here because of the hills.”

I used to hear that a lot when I first came to the Ozarks. It took me a while to figure it out. They weren’t just talking about five miles means fifteen minutes; it takes longer to do stuff. A lot of folks are still without power after the storm late Saturday night. I’ve been without internet since last night around 8:30 or so. Could go out again at any time.

I am hearing that, before the storm, we 20 inches higher than the previous record yearly rainfall amount. So, we have to be a good two feet over the record now with three and a half months to go.
