Jack White is mad. See, he wrote this tune for the new James Bond movie and now, somehow Coke has used it in an ad. From Undercover Music.
White Stripes` founder Jack White is furious that the song he wrote for the new James Bond movie has been used first in a Coca-Cola commercial.
White wrote the main song for the upcoming Bond flick Quantum of Solace. Alicia Keys is the singer.
However, the producers of the movie have allowed an instrumental version of the song to be used in a 007-themed advertisement for Coke Zero.
White is ropable. He did not give him permission for the use of the song in the ad, nor was he asked.
He has told fans that he is disappointed that they had to hear the song for the first time in an advertisement.
“Ropable”; hunh?
Here’s a tip for you up and coming rock stars who strive to retain integrity because, this brand tie-in stuff isn’t going away anytime soon.
The old saying is, the movie business tips more than the music business makes. On top of that, you have the soft drink business and Coke. Coke drops more change out of it’s trousers on hotel room floors than the movie business makes.
Point is; Coke can do what they want but don’t fret Jack White, pretty soon you will get a phone call that will ease your worried mind.
Here’s the ad that has Mr. White upset.
As always, look over your shoulder to see if you’re being tailed then, press pause on the music player located in the side bar before playing the YouTube.
