So, once again it’s time to start thinking about who gets to take the walk into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Unlike some previous years, in which Jann Wenner seemed to be picking the nominees by looking at the stack of CDs on his night stand or perhaps, by consulting the magic eight ball, this year’s crop is pretty darn good.

Here’s the rub; only five spots so four of the above get the elbow.

Wanda’s a rockabilly, Little Anthony is doo-wop. That’s 50s, stuff, they’re 50s people. By all means, induct living people. Get them in now. Jeff Beck got his start as a Yardbird, which would make him a two-time inductee if he gets in, but I’ll leave him in the “in” list. Iggy is the prototypical punk, so the Stooges need in. And it would be good to have a more contemporary black act. Maybe Bobby Womack and blaxploitation. Maybe we’ll spill some wine in the lowrider with War. Maybe we’ll be posh with Nile Rodgers and go for Chic. But for me, we’ll go with the other. There’s two of them but they’re not the Beatles. Run DMC.
