Are you guys hip to Mary McBride? No? Well you should be. She is a very good singer, very good songwriter. Lately, Mary has been up at Lou’s joint recording a new album with Lou on bass, D. Clinton Thompson-guitar, Lloy Hicks-drums and Joe Terry-keyboards (same crew that played on my record btw) and this is a shameless plug because…it’s the guys you know? But, it’s worthy of a plug shameless or otherwise. Lou played me some roughs last time I was up there and this is going to be a neat record. You will be hearing a lot more about Mary McBride.

Here are a couple of photos from her site. This one shows Mary, (slightly terrified?), with Lloyd and Joe…

And, one of Mary under more normal circumstances…

Go check her out.

  1. Boy, they’re making those sound studios smaller and smaller… poor Mary. We at the MooPig Bureau will be looking out for releases.. hope it is soon and a blockbuxter; ya shameless fool ya’.

  2. Just listened to “Bottle and the Bible”. She’s got the voice.

Doesn’t hurt that she’s absolutely adorable, either.

  3. Pribek says:

“Bottle and the Bible”-written by Dan Baird (Georgia Satellites) who is a swell guy and, I think one of the best songwriters going.
This new Mary record has a real soulish Staxxy thing going on and, from what I’ve heard everybody involved pretty well iced it so, that kind of stuff just flat works, you know?
