This one is outside of the box even by Cage Match standards.
Joe DiMaggio or Alex Rodriguez?
OK, okok…I know that the FNCMFPECDAA isn’t a baseball deal or, it never has been so far. And, by all means, if you wish to spew eloquent about line drives to the gap, do so with vigor. But, there is a fascinating pop culture/music angle to this match-up that I really haven’t heard anyone talking about.

“Where have you gone, Alex Rodriguez?” sounds worse while sung. That’s really all I have to go on here.
Say it ain’t so, Joe….
What’s that you say, Mrs. Robinson.
Jotting Joe has left and gone away,
Hey hey hey.
(sounds better when hummed on a deficient mono speaker with scurvy electronic tones, fer sure)

…I saw men with dreams like the ones I’d had
Beg for quarters outside the Seven-Eleven
Till it got so they didn’t affect me anymore
Than the mailboxes I’d passed up and then sometimes
I’d put something in the mailbox.
I’d had the wind at my back now I felt it cold in my face
And for an awful long time now you were the only one who ever
Called me late at night and I really never noticed till after
You stopped calling and the emptiness silence got so heavy.
…Broken up in the wasteland, broken up in the promised land
Broken up in Disneyland, broken up in the plastic land
Broken up in the wasteland, broken up in the wasteland
Broken up in the wasteland
I saw dead Marilyn Monroe strung up on every street corner
In Hollywood like some two bit whore offering a discount rate
And I wondered how Joe DiMaggio felt…

IT was like a scene out of a James Bond movie last week, as Madonna and Alex Rodriguez secretly jetted off in two private helicopters for a quick and cozy rendezvous in the Hamptons, Page Six has learned.

Instead of booking a motel room, the two headed straight to Jerry Seinfeld’s waterfront mansion, where they relaxed in luxury for several hours.
“The Seinfelds have been friends with Madonna for years. They’re neighbors on the West Side, so it’s really no surprise,” said an insider. “And Jerry and [wife] Jessica go to her concerts whenever she’s in town.”
Maybe I’ll go for Susan Tedeschi after all.
Joe is to Alex as Marilyn is to Madonna
