Tomorrow, The Dead will be playing for Barack Obama. Big show.
Sunday, part of The Dead came out to support “Senator-hopeful” Al Franken. Big show?
From Relix…
Bob Weir and Mickey Hart shared the stage at a high-priced benefit for Minnesota Senator-hopeful Al Franken Sunday afternoon.
Well, obviously Al Franken isn’t going to rate like the President elect on inauguration day, c’mon! He’s a “Senator-hopeful”. Still he did get one guitarist and one of the drummers. I bet they really aired it out.
Weir and Hart’s brief acoustic set consisted of the Grateful Dead’s “Friend of the Devil,” the traditional “Stealin’,” Buddy Holly’s “Not Fade Away” and the Grateful Dead’s “Ripple.”
Hmmm…four songs.

You know what that looks like? That looks like the conference room where they have the “continental breakfast” at the Super 8.
Well, I hope it all turns out good for Al. Maybe he can get the bass player and keyboard guy from Phish once he drops the “hopeful”.
By the way, does anybody else remember this?

Heard the other day that the Derek Trucks Band plus Susan Tedeschi are headlining the Southern States ball tonight. Have a couple of friends in DC for all the razmatazz, but they couldn’t afford tickets at this late stage… that’d be a ‘historic’ gig to go to, though!
Jack, are you positioned in the Harry Truman sky box? Can you see Kenski’s friends? I hope you have a great day.
