“Turista” by the Howard Roberts Quartet from the album “H.R. Is A Dirty Guitar Player”.

OK, so I got this buddy. He’s a organist, bass player kind of guy. Now, you know how everybody always says that, as a guitar player, you should study other types of musicians, sax players, piano players etc., etc.? Well, this guy was completely taken by Howard Roberts’ musical approach. So much so that, some time during the 70s, he drove out to Tulsa to go to a Howard Roberts guitar clinic.

The way he described it, Howard came out, sat down and told a long-winded, semi-off color, fully corny joke. Then, he looked at his audience of wide-eyed, aspiring guitarists, eager to learn every subtle nuance of high tech chord substitution and said; “The reason, I put you through that is, if you don’t have a well developed sense of humor, you have no business playing one of these things”.

As always, lighten up a little then, click pause on the music player located in the side bar to your left before playing the YouTube.
