It seems so hard for some of us to grow up mentally just enough to realize there are other persons of flesh and bone, just like us, on this great, big earth. And if they don’t ever stand still, move, or “swing,” they are as right as we are, even if they are as wrong as hell by our standards.

All of this stuff is from Charles Mingus: The Official Site which, has a lot of great information including the very in-depth section, “Charles Mingus Cat Toilet Training Program”…
It took me about three or four weeks to toilet train my cat, Nightlife. Most of the time is spent moving the box very gradually to the bathroom. Do it very slowly and don’t confuse him. And, remember, once the box is on the toilet, leave it a week or even two. The main thing to remember is not to rush or confuse him.
Go figure.
Hey Jack, why do you keep bringing up stuff like Theodor Adorno commenting on the banality of protest songs in a pop music context?
Good question, voice inside my head whose tone accuses me of pseudo-intellectualism.
Two reasons:
1. Adorno is quoted repeatedly in the book I’m reading, “Frank Zappa: The Negative Dialectics Of Poodle Play”.
2. This morning, I purposely looked at popular music videos on YouTube and after much seeking the best thing I saw, far and away, was a 5 year old singing “Folsom Prison Blues”.
Take it away Theo…
As always, click pause on the music player located in the side bar before playing the YouTube and make sure to read the sub-titles.
I think this video, Theodor Adorno Jazz Quartet- “Spontaneous Rituals No. 1 – the Teacup Variations”, is hilarious.
As always, don’t eat your cat and click pause on the music player located in the side bar before playing the YouTube.
…and, just in case, here’s Theodor Adorno’s Wiki.
