You may recall this little post, “Honey, do you remember where I put the reticulated pythons?”. It generated some healthy conversation in the comments and, I think we all came away feeling, at least, a little better about pythons and snakes in general.

But when I see something like this story from Lake Elsinore, California, I get the heebee geebees all over again…

Francisco Delgadillo says he was chatting with his sister on their porch Sunday night in Lake Elsinore when he saw an enormous snake moving across the fenced yard.

The first animal control officer who saw the size of the critter had to call for backup. Two officers then wrangled the 50-pound snake into a truck and took it to a shelter.

Authorities say the Burmese python probably was somebody’s pet. If the owner doesn’t claim it by the end of the week, it probably will be given to a snake rescue group.

What is up with these people who keep pythons as pets?

Keep your python in your yard!

It’s not like a Boston terrier getting loose; or a cat. It’s a damn 11 foot Burmese python…that requires a back up officer!!!

Nobody cares what you do with your python behind closed doors but you have to practice some python responsibility. Keep your python to yourself!

Troubling news from Sacramento.

Police arrested a 47-year-old man Saturday morning after finding about 300 dead cats stuffed into freezers in his house.

Police Sgt. Jim Hose said Vondueren interfered with officers who attempted to enter his home on the 4700 block of 19th Street about 8:30 a.m.

Once inside the home, Hose said officers found three freezers crammed with hundreds of dead cats. Hose said the house was littered with cat feces.

Hose said animal control was looking into citing Vondueren on additional charges.

So, what do you suppose a guy plans to do with all those frozen cats?
