“Blue Mist” by Barney Kessel, Kenny Burrell and Grant Green.

OK, first off, to my knowledge; there isn’t a whole lot of quality Grant Green footage around. Then…you got the “guitar summit” thing going on which, a lot of times doesn’t work. But, if you got three guys sitting down; you might oughta take a look. I love the way Kenny is watching the other two and turning his amp up like, three-four times before he plays a note.

As always, sit in and click pause on the music player located in the side bar before playing the YouTube.

“Cry Me A River” by Julie London.

As always, remember that love is NOT plebeian then, click pause on the music player located in the side bar to your left before playing the YouTube.

Great record. Julie London’s voice just gets to you, no trick phrasing or gratuitous melisma, she just connects. And, Barney Kessel’s accompaniment is superb.

Neat find here; VintageGuitars.org has some nifty pages of vintage ads for guitars, amps and stuff. Here is a 1959 Fender one.

Egad! Get away from that Twin little girl! The guy playing the Tele has plenty of headroom I’m guessing.

Gibson ran a 1967 campaign, “the workingman’s guitar” that featured the likes of Barney Kessel.

Back in the day (1968), you didn’t need a case full of stomp boxes, the Selmer Fuzz Wah was all the effects you could possibly need.

The extraordinary thing about this ad is that it included the following text with some product recall information.

Inadvertently a small batch of our famous fuzz wah pedals was dispatched with a faulty component. Jealous of our reputation we invite anyone who is not getting full satisfaction from a fuzz-wah pedal to return it at once to Selmer electronics.

You would not see something like that today.
