“Yeild Not To Temptation” by Col Bruce Hampton and The Codetalkers.

Jimmy Herring burning it down. Don’t know who the other cat is that solos at the end but, he’s killing it too.

As always, give in and click pause on the music player located in the side bar before playing the YouTube.

Some things are so weird that they warrant recognition even though it appears that there is no point.

Do you know about Col. Bruce Hampton?

That’s Col. Bruce on the left.

I kind of think of Col. Bruce as the Sun Ra of southern rock. But, here is an excerpt from his press kit that may clear things up for you.

Col. Bruce Hampton has been making music since he formed his first band in 1963. Col. Bruce has been in constant motion ever since leaving a trail of memorable live performances with his bands The Hampton Grease Band, The Late Bronze Age, and The Aquarium Rescue Unit.

Along the way he starred in the cult classic movies “Sling Blade” and “Outside Out.” The Colonel is currently playing with his band The Quark Alliance.

Still rolling down the road, Col. Bruce continues his quest for the tonal center at each exit #6.

I know you know about steroid use denier and noted philanderer Roger Clemens. Here’s Roger doing a 60 Minutes segment earlier this year.

Well, according to JamBands, these two kicked out the jams together during a show at Roanoke Virginia’s 202 Market.

Following the band’s second set, Clemens and his son Wade approached the group and then emerged with the Quark Alliance for what has been described as “an American Idol-esque tryout rendition of Steppenwolf’s ‘Born To Be Wild.’” Next up for Col. Bruce & The Quark Alliance is a performance on Friday August 15 in Augusta, GA at Surrey Tavern.
