Something you got to know…all “Futurists” are full of shit. And, unlike most of these clowns, I am a content owner and copyright holder.
Here’s the deal…copyrights are obsolete at this moment. Copyright law is vague at best anyway. It all goes back centuries and is based on a loose “do the right thing” premise.
Here is what you need to know…
1. It’s all time/date coded, that is the nature of the digital realm, and it will hold up in court…anywhere.
2. Therefore; you don’t need to send $35.00 to the GubMint.
3. None of this matters unless somebody figures out how to make a buck off of your content. If, by chance, somebody does…refer to step 1.
You can’t copyright an idea. But, ideas are the new currency. It’s a conundrum, I know that. Copyright applies when you make a document of the idea. The beauty of it is…this is a document. And, when you click whatever you are clicking…it’s a document. So, the entire point is…create…that’s how WE win.
It has come to my attention that my little blog has built a respectable amount of traffic. Not huge, but pretty good. Actually, that was a reason for the recent server move.
When I started writing this blog (July, 2006), a lot of people gave me great advice about how to build traffic. The one thing that kept coming up was, “content”. Unfortunately the rest of the advice had to do with concentrating on a particular subject matter and such and, I figured that I would have a hard time with that. So, I just started writing about anything that crossed my mind.
Anyway, the server people pointed out that one reason for my traffic is the amount of content and the fact that a lot of people are reading archive posts that appear in web searches.
This is post # 996 and, to date there have been 3,471 comments on those posts.
A while back, I had an idea that if I ever developed enough traffic, instead of selling ad space like most blogs, I would prefer to have a single sponsor. In a perfect world, somebody who had a good product or service, would notice not only the number of eyeballs looking in but, also recognize the quality of the regular readers.
According to Jayne, here are the details about the space available.
Your current theme offers the following adspace areas – a 2nd column, beneath a single post (two spaces), just above the footer (three spaces), and banner space.
You also have the option of offering text adspace at the end of a post – a “sponsored by” type of line.
You also have an active blog that is updated several times a day with popular, regular features – Friday Cage Match and Mindless Yobs In the News etc.
If you are interested in sponsoring pribek.net, click up top where it says “Contact Pribek”, and I will provide you with traffic data etc. and we’ll talk.
Rolling Stone is changing format, going with a smaller digest size. From the NY Times.
Along with the change in size, Rolling Stone will switch to heavier, glossy paper and sleeker page designs, and it will be glued rather than stapled — “perfect bound” instead of “saddle stitched,” in magazine lingo — giving it a flat spine rather than a tapered edge. In all, the revisions make for a more professional, more grown-up look.
It looks grown-up.
Yeah.
Publisher Jann Wenner says….
“The consumer we want to reach watches ‘Lost’ on a big TV screen, on a computer screen and on an iPhone,” he said. “They’re agnostic on format.”
Sounds like pretty grown-up stuff Jann.
It occurs to me that I’m grown-up enough to remember the last time Rolling Stone did this, going from the newspaper format to the magazine format. It was late 70s-early 80s. It coincided with when the content went straight to hell. It’s about the time that Rolling Stone became a fashion magazine.
