I know I’ve talked about Wolfgang’s Vault a couple of times before. They have a wide variety of concerts that you can stream for free. You have to start an account, give up an email address but, it’s well worth it. They have some real gems over there.

This morning I listened to one that might interest you Southern Rock buffs out there; Betts, Hall, Leavell and Trucks at Hermitage Landing (Nashville, TN) 1983.

Check this line-up out:

Dickey Betts – lead vocals, guitar
Jimmy Hall – lead vocals, harmonica, sax
Chuck Leavell – piano, keyboards, vocals
Danny Parks – violin, vocals
David “Rook” Goldflies – bass, vocals
Butch Trucks – drums and percussion
Guest: David Allan Coe – vocals
Guest: Warren Haynes – guitar
Guest: Mike Lawler – organ

It’s interesting to hear Betts stretching out in a different sort of format. Jimmy Hall is one of my favorite singers and I forget that he’s got some sax chops. Chuck is always stellar. Danny Parks, I don’t recall him but he’s got some stuff to say too. Warren shows up on “Ramblin’ Man” (with DAC); so it’s interesting to hear him and Betts years before they made it official.
