I have this old book called “The Evolution of Jazz Guitar” by Jimmy Stewart. There is a section on Jimmy Raney in which Stewart says that in 1949, Raney had a house on 93rd Street in New York and his roommates were Tal Farlow and Sal Salvador.

Woah! Can you imagine? That’s a whole lot of guitar for one house.

Here is a little clip of Raney followed by one from Tal. I couldn’t find any video of Sal Salvador but, I did find an old Gretsch ad.

As always, follow the house rules and click pause on the music player located in the side bar before playing the YouTubes.

This untitled (to my knowledge) jam between Atilla Zoller and Jimmy Raney. A beautiful conversation.

As always, look as you leap and click pause on the music player located in the side bar before playing the YouTube.
