From Telegraph UK.

Residents of a historic village called Lunt are being asked to change its name because vandals are constantly defacing its road signs.

However, the proposal is dividing villagers in the rural community in Sefton, Merseyside, who say they should not have to give up a name that has been around since the 13th century simply because of puerile graffiti.

Martyn Ball, a retired police officer and prospective Conservative councillor, is urging residents to support the move because he is fed up with the graffiti which greets visitors to the village.

He said: “We are all painfully aware of the repeated times our village sign is defaced by mindless yobs who change the L to a C.

“Drive in every day and you see a very offensive word.”

How unfortunate. You know what? To me, “Lunt” sounds funny already, looks funny too-so does the word “yobs”.

“You yobs will just have to learn that you don’t mess with Lunt!”

Are the residents of Lunt referred to as “Lunters” or, “Luntites”?

Reports are that residents of two local, Missouri towns, Knob Lick and Climax Springs are paying close attention to the developments in the Lunt story.
