The posts have been a little spotty lately and today is a good day to tie up a few loose ends.
First off, Jayne the webchick, has been working feverishly on a new theme for the website, which will debut later on in the wee hours.
Remember that Chuck Berry song “Wee Wee Hours”.
In the wee, wee hours
That’s when I think of you
In the wee, wee hours
That’s when I think of you
You say, but yet I wonder
If your love was ever trueIn a wee little room
I sit alone and think of you
In a wee little room
I sit alone and think of you
I wonder if you still remember
All the things we used to doOne little song
For a fading memory
One little song
For a fading memory
Of the one I really love
The only one for me
Very poetic.
Anyway a new theme coming your way.
Isn’t it funny how things that feel like dramatic changes often come in bunches?
If you have been following along for a while, you know that earlier this year I was living in a, less than ideal, trailer park. If you are new, you can get a little feel for the place from these archive posts, here and here.
I was kind of in a bind in that I require, ahem… affordable housing. This being a tourist destination, it isn’t always easy to find. Also, I didn’t want to sign a lease or commit to anything long term. At this stage, I value the idea of being able to move on if I so desire. There is also the possibility, at some point, that I might travel to do some gigs or something.
So, I found a motor home. Not just any motor home; a “classic”. That’s what the guy that did the inspection called it, a classic.
Here’s a picture of the little jewel that LK took.
A 1973 Winnebago Minnie Winnie. That’s right, you heard right, 1973. Actually, the thing runs great. The guy that owned it before took great care of the engine. New carb, belts brake lines all that stuff. There is quite a story about how I got it and got it back to the Ozarks. That will have to be for another time though.
Anyway, my thinking was, I don’t need much. I need a place to sleep, house the guitars and computer. It dawned on me that renting a space at a campground is cheaper than renting a house. The campgrounds around here are pretty nice too.
Here’s the view.

It’s quiet here. I have the Wi-Fi, the Tele, the Dobro and my, hand-wired Little Lanilei amp so, I’m comfortable.
The Minnie Winnie is real small, 18 feet. So, I have had to cut out anything that isn’t necessary. It’s good to do that, if you can. 1973, by the way was the first year that Winnebago made the Minnie Winnie. Check out this TV ad from 1973 to get a real feel of the retro vibe of “The Motor Home For The Masses”.
Great jingle on that ad too.
A few quick plugs.
A couple of weeks ago, I met percussionist Chris Atkinson who, along with Guitarist Dave Skinner, make up the band 3 Legged Monkey. They play moody, atmospheric instrumental music that is subtly innovative. Check it out.
Also, here’s a freebie. Go see Marius Akselsen and get yourself a box.
1000boxs.com is a new take on advertising, on here I intend to promote sites I personally like and to offer advertising.
All the cool kids are getting one. It’s kind of like one of those deals where you can buy a deed to a square inch of land in someplace like Alaska exept, it’s free.
