Uhhh….make that Closing 2008.

From the AP…

Life in the fast lane apparently was too much for Hard Rock Park. Six months after opening, the only major U.S. theme park to open in the last decade is for sale.

Spokesman Jim Olecki said Friday the $400 million Myrtle Beach park celebrating rock ‘n’ roll couldn’t cope with less-than-expected attendance and a faltering economy.

Here is what I said back in May

I got to tell you, I’m not going to pretend to be objective here. I don’t like “theme” parks. I like the park part, roller coasters and food; the park part is good clean fun. It’s the “theme” part that I object to. For some reason my psyche rebels against the theme. I guess I’m in the minority on this because people seem to love them.

Well, as themes go, this one seems especially contrived. But, what do I know?

I am hearing that a prospective buyer might be able to snap this place up for 10 cents on the dollar.
