Pretty weird deal going on in Miami. From Yahoo News.
Thousands of shoes were dumped on the Palmetto Expressway causing significant traffic delays in Miami, Friday, Jan. 2, 2009….
….Lt. Pat Santangelo says the Florida Highway Patrol received a call about the shoes Friday morning.
Santangelo says he’s not sure where the shoes came from. There were no signs of a crash and no one stopped to claim them. He says he hopes someone will take them because he doesn’t want to send them to the dump.

Hunh!!?? How does this happen? How do thousands of shoes end up on the road? I mean they didn’t just drop out of the back of the pick-up truck. Somebody had thousands of shoes laying around, and made a decision to dump them on the road and then, carried out the dastardly plan without getting caught. Pretty impressive work on that level.
You know how you’ll be driving along and see a pair of shoes, tied together that somebody chucked over some power lines? That always makes me chuckle. Somebody makes it a point to show up in the middle of the night, when nobody is around, and starts winging the shoes in to the night sky. You know they don’t get it on the first try, unless it’s just blind luck because nobody has much practice at power line shoe tossing. And, it doesn’t signify anything, doesn’t make any statement; it’s just a “made you look” deal. I always appreciate it when somebody goes to that kind of trouble to make me look.
So, is the thing in Miami the ultimate make you look shoe prank or is there some deeper, geo-political/philosophical/artistic/cultural statement behind this? We can only hope that some individual or group will come forward and make a statement claiming that they are responsible and why, I guess.
