SAMYAMA is the term Patanjali uses in the Yoga Sutras for the last three of the eight stages of classical yoga: concentration (dharana), meditation (dhyana), and enlightenment (samadhi).
From “The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali:Translation and Commentary by Sri Swami Satchidananda”.
By samyama on the Light within, the knowledge of the subtle, hidden and remote is obtainable.
[Note:subtle as atoms, hidden as treasure, remote as far distant lands]
I’ve looked at other translations of the Sutras and, it appears to me, that each translation is also an individual “interpretation”. I like old Sri Swami Satchidananda’s commentary. He has a knack for being downright poetic.
