I’ve never seen a press release like this before…

Dick Zimmerman, famed portrait artist and creator of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” cover and Painter of his Homage to Michael Jackson titled HOMAGEKOP8/15, which was recently unveiled Friday, September 18th nationally on Entertainment Tonight, has turned down an offer from an undisclosed art memorabilia collector from the United Kingdom offering to purchase the original tribute painting to Jackson for $1.8 Million…

…Zimmerman stated, “It might seem crazy to pass on this offer, but I was very passionate and emotional about creating my tribute to Michael. I kept saying no to the offer and it kept going higher. I’m not interested in selling at this time but I’m confident that when I’m ready to part with the original painting, there will be a buyer out there!”

A guy issues a press release to notify the media that he didn’t sell a painting. And, the prospective buyer was the dreaded “undisclosed art memorabilia collector”. But…he might just be persuaded to sell it later.

I’m assuming the painting comes complete with digitally generated, faux frame template. No word about whether or not it’s painted on black velvet.

The first sentence of a press release is all important…

Sacramento’s Radisson Hotel will be the center of the harmonica universe as The Society for the Preservation and Advancement of the Harmonica (SPAH) kicks off its 46th anniversary convention.

SPAH…rolls right off the tongue doesn’t it? Very mellifluous. Here is the SPAH official website.

Hey rockers and shredders, keep those chops up! It looks like it’s only a matter of time until you get the call from Axl. Yep, Guns und Roses has hired yet another guitar player. This time it’s DJ Ashba. From 24 Bit

“DJ ‘s a gifted, energetic guitarist that Guns N’ Roses is proud to have on board!!” Axl Rose said. “We’re very excited to have the opportunity to work together. Guns’ radar has silently been aware of DJ’s presence for quite some time! He brings a fresh approach to our particular brand of mayhem, expanding the tapestry of Guns N’ Roses live. Once DJ’s name was in the hat, the hat disappeared!!”

Cut the crap Axl. “Particular brand of mayhem!!??” Expanding the tapestry!!??” “The hat disappeared!!”

here’s what you need to do Axl…

Put one guy in a wig, top hat and RayBans-stage left.

Put another guy in a kimono with a bucket on his head-stage right.

Nobody in the crowd knows any of these cats any way. This way, you can fire and hire at will and avoid any future, awkward press releases.
