Several days ago, I wrote a post, “Did Ryan Adams Spend $858,000 To Make A Record?” That is the amount of money Courtney Love claims was billed to an Amex in her name, by somebody, that went towards the recording of Adams’ record “Rock n Roll”. It’s kind of a long story but Love isn’t happy with Ryan and says the he owes her the money.

Gigwise is reporting that Adams has now responded to Love’s allegations. This is what I’ve been waiting for.

Ryan Adams has responded to the claims that he took money from Courtney Love and from her daughter Frances Bean’s trust fund to record his album ‘Rock And Roll”.

Adding a section on his official website entitled ‘Impersonal Swordfish’, the singer links to a statement that seems to be about the situation.

“I’ve been dealing with the truth that I have at times been a bad example and/or glorified self destructive behavior. This was never intentional, but rather a consequence of leading a public life in plain sight and never expecting any sort of preferential treatment, isolation or protection,” states Adams.

“I’ve realized and accepted that if people decide to dislike me, they’re going to find reasons to justify disliking me. There’s nothing I can do about that. That said, it still does pain me to be accused of fictional crimes against innocents or to be implicated in romantic gossip involving the possibly reality-challenged–however unreliable the source or outlandish the accusations. In the end, however, I know that I have never done or even meant anyone any harm.”

Well, Gigwise has got it wrong because Adams is responding to no one in particular here. And he doesn’t deny that the money used to make the record came from Love and her daughter. He just says he meant no harm. But, more important than all of that he never even addresses my question so, I’ll ask it again.

Hey Ryan, did you spend $858,000 to make a record? I’m not concerned about what went down or didn’t go down with Love or fictional crimes you may have been accused of. Here’s the deal, if you spent that kind of dough making that “Rock n Roll” album, you need to get in touch with me man. I’m pretty sure I could get the same thing done, right here in the Ozarks, for less than two percent of that 858 grrrr. That’s not including drugs or catering but, with that kind of money left over you could have a hell of a party.

Give me a call, we still have the drums all miked and ready to go.
