Impersonating celebrities is an old scam.

Remember the song “Seasons In The Sun” by Terry Jacks? There was a guy going around signing bar tabs for years, impersonating Terry Jacks! Really.

See, I think that’s a pretty good angle, you pick a personality that is familiar, in some way, to most people but, not easily recognizable. Who is going to question you if you say you are Terry Jacks? It’s believable. Who is going to know any better? See, you could picture a guy, who had one hit song back in the 70’s, needing to get a motel room in your town.

If you are going to pull the celebrity scam, it’s got to be believable and, you can’t get too greedy.

From Breitbart/AP.

Two people were being investigated for alleged fraud after attempting to launch a fashion line with a brand using George Clooney’s name, police in Milan said Thursday.

Tax police said they seized garments and watches Wednesday, as well as fake documentation. The ANSA news agency said the line was to be launched in Milan next week.

Police said the probe stemmed from a complaint filed by the actor.

Launching a fashion line using George Clooney’s name; How can you not get caught?

Now, you could possibly run around Milan, telling people that you are working for George Clooney, who has hired you to start a fashion line. That would be a good way to pick up dimwit chicks who think they are Supermodel material but, that’s about the extent of it. Well, you might be able to get a few drinks out of it too. But, you aren’t going to make any money off of it and, you definitely don’t attempt to launch an actual fashion line.

You know what these guys are that tried to do this? They are a couple of mindless YOBS!
