Davey Ray came up with The Rogues maybe, a couple of years ago. His idea was to have a danceable jam band with a revolving cast of characters.

I was over at his place one day, out in his garage where he has all the music gear and, there were all of these different phrases, written on sheets of paper and taped to the inside of the garage door. He was auditioning band names. The way he explained it, he had a list of choices that he compiled over the years and, he taped the best ones to the garage door and let them work on his subconscious for a couple of weeks. The Rogues evidently “spoke” to him.

Davey is a different kind of cat.

I will be playing with The Rogues at the Outback Pub this Friday and Saturday night. 9:30 start time both nights.

This weekend I will be back at The Outback Pub. This time I will be playing with The Rogues. The Rogues is a band/project that my old friend Davey Ray started a while back. Davey is one of those guys that knows a lot of good players and is real good at shucking and jiving. His idea for The Rogues was to have kind of a revolving cast of characters and no set lists. It’s kind of a flying by the seat of your pants, anything goes affair. But, it always works because Davey knows all the players that can pull it off and he does all the footwork.

Davey will be playing keyboards, Boyd Manning (from Thirst N’ Howl) will be on drums and, Tony Walther (Roy Clark Band) will be playing bass.

It will be fun.

Also, I’ve been getting some inquiries about an upcoming Thirst N’ Howl show.

On, Tuesday, May 13th, TNH will have the honor of playing a concert at the historic Gillioz Theatre; part of the Gigs at the Gillioz series.

The Gillioz is a pretty cool pace and we are all looking forward to this show.
