Hey guys, remember Rob Morris, the guy who attached a wii controller to his guitar and came up with some cool, groovy, hip new sounds? We talked about him here a few months back.

Well, Rob is getting a little run. There’s a piece about him in the Boston Globe, which is pretty good visibility, and they mentioned his band, Vivian Darkbloom, as well.

Good going Rob!

Last month, I wrote about guitarist Led Zeppelin Tuyay of the Philippine group Kamikazee who was being held in Dubai on suspicion of marijuana possession. He was taken in to custody on December 4 and remains at an airport detention center nearly a month later. From ABS-CBN.

The guitarist has not been formally charged, according to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) newspaper, which said the prosecutor was awaiting results of urine tests.

The newspaper said Tuyay was found with 0.87 grams (0.03 ounces) of marijuana in his possession which he insisted he had not intended to bring with him or to use in Dubai.

So, here you have a young guy who was carrying a tiny amount of pot, very tiny amount, he admits it, says he didn’t intend to bring it with him and he’s still sitting there in limbo after a month.

Clearly, the authorities in Dubai are the ultimate red asses. It doesn’t take a month to get blood test results. The guy didn’t even have a gram on him and they are holding him indefinitely, using protocol as a lame excuse.

I sympathize with Led. And, I’m not looking at it as a pot deal, I’m looking at it as a musician deal. I sympathize with Led but, at the same time, he brought this predicament on. If you are in a position where you are traveling for work, you got to know where you are going.

If you’ve been following along, here and here, you will know that Mohammed Bello…

…is an 84 year old guy with 86 wives.

Mr. Bello says…

“A man with 10 wives would collapse and die, but my own power is given by Allah. That is why I have been able to control 86 of them,”

When we last looked in, a Nigerian court had ordered Bello to divorce all but four wives. They charged him with “insulting religious creed” and “unlawful marriages” and put him in the slam.

Now, according to Reuters, Bello may be set free.

“The Federal High Court granted Bello unconditional release yesterday,” defense lawyer David Ikotun told Reuters by phone from Abuja….

… Before his detention, the preacher had filed a petition at a Federal High Court in the Nigerian capital Abuja seeking to enforce his rights and to be protected from local chiefs and Muslim leaders who threatened to banish him if he failed to divorce 82 of his wives.

“The judge also ordered that the inspector general of police provide him with adequate protection to ensure that his fundamental human rights are not infringed,” Ikotun said, adding that Bello was still in custody.

So, still in custody and still an appeal process but, things are looking up for the guy with 86 wives.
